Nicklas Backstrom Set to Return Tonight

Confirmed this morning after practice, Nicklas Backstrom will make his return to the Capitals lineup tonight as they host the Montreal Canadiens. Backstrom has been out of the lineup since early January when he took an elbow to the dome, courtesy of Rene Bourque.

“It’s gonna be fun to play,” said Backstrom. “I’m excited to be back in such an important game.”

Based off the Caps’ lines from practice earlier this morning, Backstrom will play pivot on the first line along side Alex Ovechkin and Marcus Johansson. This may come as a surprise to some, but not Backstrom. “I play where the coach want me to play.”

“I’ve been practicing hard,” said Backstrom, “I’m excited to be back.”

I don’t know about he rest of you, but I plan on wearing my Backstrom jersey proudly for the rest of today.
