Capitals Clinch Playoff Berth for Fifth Straight Season
Thanks to Thursday’s regulation win over the Florida Panthers in the Verizon Center, the Washington Capitals will be heading to the playoffs for the fifth straight season.
Wow, I honestly wasn’t sure if I’d ever be typing that this season.
Even better, the Southeast Division title is still up for grabs. Currently two points ahead of the Caps, the Florida Panthers only need an overtime loss at the least to win the SE division. However, if the Panthers lose on Saturday against the Carolina Hurricanes and if the Capitals win on Saturday against the New York Rangers, the Capitals will keep their SE division winning streak alive for another season. Crazy, right?
Though, we’re fine with what happens either way. In fact, we think it might even be better for the Caps to get the 8th seed…maybe.
